Bonnie O'Leary

Exhibiting September & October, 2024: Bonnie O’Leary

Bio

Bonnie has been captivated by the art of macramé since the vibrant 1980s. Initially drawn to the craft by its intricate knots and the potential for creative expression, she began by exploring patterns from other artists. Her early works featured a variety of designs, from classic square knots to elaborate feather and spiral patterns.

About five or six years ago, Bonnie’s passion evolved from following established patterns to crafting unique, imaginative pieces inspired by her own visions. Using photographs and images as her muse, she creates whimsical wall hangings that blend the delicate artistry of macramé with her boundless creativity. No longer confined by others’ designs, Bonnie’s work now reflects her personal interpretation of the world around her, transforming simple cords into extraordinary and evocative art.
